A Corner in the House // Living Room - Nice to Meet You
The public space of the home, and especially the living room, have received our main attention in the past two years.
The fact that we were required to stay at home longer than usual, and in a full family format, made us re-examine the space we live in, and make it more personal – one that exactly suits our needs and desires.
Since in most Israeli homes the living room is the first space we encounter, it also serves as a kind of "calling card" of the home (and by extension – of the residents of the home). Therefore, when approaching the design of the living room – it is important to ask ourselves which of the roles is more significant to us: the part where we host – in which case the living room can have a more 'formal' design, or the part where we spend time together, as a family – in which case it will have a more relaxed and embracing design. After answering this question – we can accordingly choose the seating arrangement and furniture items.
After answering the "functional" question of the living room, we can move on to the question of style.
Do we prefer a clean and minimalistic style, or on the contrary, an eclectic style where "the more the merrier"? The answer to this question gives the living room its unique character, one that is tailored exactly for you. Like a custom-made garment.
Warm industrial style living room with a nod to classic style
Warm industrial style living room with a nod to classic style. The characteristics of this style include the use of natural materials combined with black metal, giving a rough and warm feel. Therefore, we chose a brown Chicago armchair and sofa, an industrial side table of glass and black metal, and a black Cloud table. We turned the industrial side table into a bookshelf that combines a display of books and plants. To reinforce the feeling of warmth, we slightly softened the industrial look with boho chic cushions and a Portland rug.
With a finger on the pulse // Close to nature
One of the " hottest" concepts in the design world is biophilia - an approach that connects us back to nature and seeks to bring nature into the home. Beyond the use of plants, biophilia encourages the use of natural light, the introduction of fresh air, and the use of natural materials from non-depletable resources.
To strengthen the connection to nature as much as possible, we are seeing more and more integration of greenery as a design element. Plants are not limited to the balcony or a herb planter, but are integrated into the fabric of the home's life, taking up space on the living room or dining room table, as well as inside the library. The rich colors derived from natural materials (wood, metal, bamboo, and rattan) blend well with the green shades of the plants, adding warmth to the home.
